On 1st March 2018 you will receive notification from your Local Authority whether or not you have been successful in being offered a place at Wallington County Grammar School.
If your son has been offered a place at our School, you will then be sent a letter from Wallington County Grammar School shortly afterwards asking you to confirm whether you will be accepting or declining this offer. You must also always confirm or decline any offer of a place with your Local Authority.  
If you have not been offered a place at Wallington County Grammar School and wish to appeal against this decision, please refer to the Appeals section of this website for further information.   


Transfer to Secondary School in 2019 or 2020

If your son is transferring to secondary school in 2019 or 2020, the Selective Eligibility Test will be held on the following future dates:  
Tuesday 18th September 2018 (this is for entry to secondary school in 2019)
Tuesday 17th September 2019 (this is for entry to secondary school in 2020)

Waiting Lists: If your son was not offered a place at Wallington County Grammar School on 1st March 2018 but he did reach the Wallington County Grammar School pass mark from the SET AND you listed our school as a higher preference on your Common Application Form than you have been offered by your Local Authority, your son's details will automatically be placed onto our Year 7 ranked Waiting List.


Waiting List positions will only be available after 16th March 2018. Ranked Waiting Lists will be in operation from 16th March 2018 to 31st December 2018. After this date, all ranked waiting lists will be cancelled.

National Offer Day. Notifications of all Secondary School offers will be sent to parents/carers by their Home Local Authority.

By 5th March 2018 

Wallington County Grammar School (WCGS) offer letters will be sent by post, along with a Year 7 Registration Form and a parental authorisation form for completion.

A Programme of Events sheet detailing our very comprehensive induction events for new students will also be provided at this time. Please retain this yellow sheet for future reference to dates, times and locations of our induction events throughout the spring and summer terms.

Thursday  15th March 2018

Your offer letter acceptance slip, a copy of your son’s birth certificate, the Year 7 Registration Form and the parental authorisaion form are to be completed and received back at the school by today please.

If you wish to decline the offer of a place, you must still notify the School by the deadline of Thursday 15th March 2018 please by completing the decline section of the offer letter slip.

Completed Induction Pack Forms to be received back at WCGS. Please ensure these are marked for the attention of the relevant member of staff or department. Some forms are relevant for our Music Department, others for our Finance Department, so we ask that you please mark your envelope accordingly.


Tuesday 17th April 2018 

Induction Meeting for new parents and students - 6.30-8.00pm in the School Hall.

This is for parents and the new students joining us in September. We do ask that no more than 3 members of each family attend this event

During this evening you will hear our Head of School and Head of Keystage 3 giving talks. You will also be given documentation regarding the school uniform and where it can be purchased and a leaflet from OPRO, our supplier of gum shields. 

Mid May 2018

Student house allocations will be communicated to all parents/carers. This information will be needed to purchase House-specific Sports/PE kit & for invitations to Meet The Head of School meetings in June 2018.

6th & 7th June 2018 

Meet the Head of School meetings:

Mandeville - Wednesday 6th June 2018 - 1.30pm

These meetings will give parents/carers the opportunity to meet the Head of School on a more informal basis by House group and meet other parents/carers within the same House group as your son.

Please note: Parents/Carers ONLY are invited to this event. These meetings will last for approximately one hour.

Please be advised, if you are unable to attend this event there will be no further opportunity for you to attend a 'Meet The Head' meeting.

PTFA Induction BBQ food orders are to be returned to the PTFA.

If the purchase of Art Packs is again being offered by the PTFA in 2018, then all completed forms should be returned to the school office marked for the attention of the 'PTFA' by no later than the end of May 2018.

PTFA BBQ for the new Year 7's and their families (3.00pm-5.30pm)

The student joining WCGS in September will be offered a complimentary BBQ meal and drink. Please ensure your son's food order is ordered in advance of this day.

All other food orders should be made in advance to the PTFA and paid for on the day. Please note: food must be ordered in advance and cannot be ordered on the day

1st July 2018 (Sunday)

Rugby and Sport Taster sports induction morning run by the WCGS PE Dept (10.00am to 12.30pm on the WCGS Sports Field).

Parents are asked to attend this session with their sons.
